This role supports the delivery of projects in the Hawkes Bay region, and is an integral member of the civil team. You will have the tools and scope to lean into projects, and genuinely contribute to your own future and LDE’s reputation.

Our Hawkes Bay office in Ahuriri is home to a multidisciplinary team of civil, geotechnical, and structural engineers, engineering geologists, and environmental scientists — and with the beach just steps away, the work-life balance practically takes care of itself.
Work will involve civil design works, including but not limited to:
- Small to large subdivisions from concept to signoff stages
- Roading and pavement design
- Stormwater and wastewater reticulation design
- Stormwater hydraulic neutrality design and flood assessments
- Reporting
- Site monitoring
- Simple structural design
- Retaining wall and MSE wall design
- Foundation design
- Coastal revetment designs
The technical competencies essential to this positions are:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Civil)
- 4+ years of New Zealand experience, including consultancy exposure
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D; familiarity with HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS is an advantage
- Competent in the Microsoft Suite
- Minimum restricted driver’s licence
Personal attributes required include:
- Attention to detail and able to write technical reports with minimal input from senior engineers
- Has and is willing to develop the ability to find workable solutions within the constraints of budget, time, and site conditions
- Must be able to clearly communicate and translate technical information for clients, contractors, and non-engineers
- Takes responsibility for work from concept through to delivery
- Resilience and having the ability to adapt and push through setbacks is invaluable
- Commercial awareness (understanding that good engineering also needs to make business sense)
- Field confidence — comfortable on site and able to make sound judgements outside the office and know when to refer questions to a senior
- A dependable team player
